I dont get this. Is i available for every column. Could a by i select phrase and a fby in where phrase do the same thing ? Is i provided for convenience or is it a redundancy ?
i is a virtual column. Not sure what you mean by ‘does every column have one’. Can you provide examples of the cases you are trying to understand? A minimal reproducible example is always good form, ala stackoverflow questions.
