Multi threaded input mode

Hi,

I am looking Multi threaded Input Mode and to me ( though there are restriction ) it looks like a clear value add over other systems  - ex: data.tables of R package. But the writeup does have a “Warning” tone to it so i thought i would ask the community about its usage. 

My set up is like : Bunch of “q server” processes on multi threaded mode - data is immutable.A bunch of “client q” process which connect to these multi threaded “server q” processes and crunch and retrieve data. From a simple test it seems to work correctly but is there anything i want to watch out in 32 bit systems in particular?

Is there a way to restrict the number of concurrent threads so that i could avoid the risk of wsfull error on 32 bit version?
