kdb+ 4.0

All,

I am really proud to be able to announce that we have released kdb+ 4.0 to production today.

As you can see from Charlie’s release notes, a tremendous amount of new functionality has been put into our core system. Optane Support, Encryption at rest, a built in profiler, debugger enhancements, and above all - increasing the multi threaded capabilities of kdb+ to encompass internal primitives.

Because of this, we decided that the release deserves a major point upgrade, and is now known as 4.0. This was formally known in test as 3.7t, and I would like to thank all of our customers and community that put so much time and effort into testing it over the last few months.

Importantly, this major release is very much compatible with your existing code. There should be no major changes needed to any existing code in order to enjoy the benefits of the new features. The most noticeable improvement is, as always, the performance. The work done in rearchitecting the inner workings of kdb+ to migrate the primitive functions to be multithreaded has resulted in some superb speedups of production code.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all of the Kx developers and support teams who have worked so hard to create this release. I hope you enjoy using it as much as we did creating it.
