  1. install the latest version
  2. if you start q without any option it will start listening to port 0. Make sure that this port is not already occupied.

Go to kx.com download trial version select version v 2.8 for windows
Save that file windows.zip
Then extract save it in c folder
Go to cmd
Type c:/q/w32/q
You will be in q console
