Hello everyone,
AquaQ Analytics today releases an updated version of the AquaQ TorQ Framework for kdb+ to code.kx.com.
Please note that this Framework also works with the 32-bit version of kdb+ that Kx Systems (www.kx.com) announced recently will now be free for commercial use.
The framework forms the basis of a production kdb+ system by implementing some core functionality and utilities on top of kdb+, allowing developers to concentrate on the application business logic. This framework will be suitable for those looking to create a new kdb+ system from scratch or those looking to add additional functionality to their existing kdb+ systems.
Additional functionality made available in this release includes the following:
- a set of utility functions including pub/sub (based on kdb+tick pub/sub) to aid in html5 development. The utility libraries are in both kdb+ and javascript;
- a html5 GUI for the monitor process which shows basic error messages and heart-beating of the other processes in the system (not intended as a production monitor - just as an example);
- a compression utility to allow on-disk databases to be compressed/uncompressed based on configuration in a csv file. It allows specified columns in tables to be compressed differently, and works with all partition types (date/month/year/int) and with partitioned and splayed tables;
- a housekeeping process which will undertake housekeeping jobs periodically such as compressing or deleting specific files older than a given age from specific directories. The housekeeping actions can be extended as required;
- a file alerting process which will monitor a set of directories and will undertake a given action when files with names matching specific patterns are created (or modified, depending on the configuration defined in the csv);
- a “quick start” for kdb+tick - a .sh and .bat file to wrap around kdb+tick and launch it within the TorQ framework. See the readme for details;
- a separate zip download to make life easier for windows users;
- updated documentation.
Also note that specific parts of the framework can be used on their own, with little or no modifications. For example, the majority of the utility scripts would easily drop into existing kdb+ setups.
A zip file containing the code and associated documentation is available from the AquaQ Analytics website (www.aquaq.co.uk) and is also available via code.kx.com at http://code.kx.com/wiki/Contrib#AquaQ_Analytics
I hope you find this to be of use and we welcome any and all feedback to info@aquaq.co.uk
